FILMMAKER since 1981, because of MUSIC.
Born in Hamburg,
grown up in the Australian outback, no electricity, no running water out of
wall, but a radio. Had own horse but no bicycle and a kangaroo in the garden.
Back to Hamburg
1968. School-leaving exam Abitur. Studied american literature (E.A. Poe,
Malamud) and physical education at Hamburg-University, 56 different jobs.
Started making films because of the music, especially Einstürzende Neubauten,
Nick Cave
and classical music (favourite record "Berlin" by Lou Reed). Often visiting
opera, ballet and punk concerts in same evening, mainly in Hamburg
and Berlin.
He carries his films around the world and presents at festivals, special
events, in off-cinemas, discos and all kinds of places.
In Germany his films were
distributed by Pandora (Frankfurt), Silver Cine (Hamburg),
Neue Visionen (Berlin).

Still remembers that lyrics like "we are all prostitutes" (pop
group) had a meaning. And recommends the book by Roman Frister (1999):

"I often wonder why "they" always scream, shout and cry
about pollution of nature and the world but hardly ever about pollution of

etc... are handling it anyway, it seems.

En 25 años hasta hoy Peter Sempel ha retratado de una manera voluntariosa, en
distintos ámbitos culturales del mundo a exaltados artistas, músicos y
bailarines, entre otros: al Maestro de Danza Butoh Kazuo Ohno, del
Underground a Blixa Bargeld y Nick Cave, al vanguardista de cine de Nueva
York Jonas Mekas, a Músicos de la escena de Hamburgo, a la persona de culto
de Berlin Nina Hagen, al legendario HeavyRock Lemmy Kilmister (Motörhead),
Allen Ginsberg, Patti Smith, David Carradine y últimamente el Flamenco.
Sus películas son de libre asociación con un fascinante arte de montaje. Leitmotiv: ?El deseo es la única energía, surge del
caos? (EN-Blixa). Desde hace más de 20 años se pueden ver a nivel mundial sus
películas en festivales y cines independientes, frecuentemente también con el
apoyo de Institutos Goethe. Peter muchas veces está presente personalmente
para discutir con el público. A veces también con exposiciones fotográficas
de las películas.

Kazuo Ohno, padre y leyenda de la danza BUTOH cumple este año 100! El rey de
los independientes: ?Soy un viejo caballo con un corazón joven?, fantástico; como también Blixa
interpretando dos canciones de ?El Viaje de Invierno? de Schubert.(1991,98

HAGEN-PUNK+GLORY:
un retrato sorprendente, Nina, no solamente sonora y llamativamente estridente sino
también en voz baja, negroblanco y poética. Material de 20 años, entre otros,
George Clinton, UdoLindenberg, Otto, Blixa, Jonas Mekas, Lemmy, Angelyne, su
familia, (versión 2005, 90 min.).
KAZUO OHNO: I DANCE INTO THE LIGHT /Yo bailo hacia la Luz/:
Nueva película con Kazuo, 98 años, y con momentos culminantes de archivo de

un sutil retrato del cantante de Rock de Motörhead, también apto para
